Chère Joie

METRO MANILA / FOOD / Dessert / Macarons

1. What got you started with this brand? What was your inspiration? What is the idea/concept behind it?

This brand was born during the pandemic. Chère Joie’s chef had extensive experience working with French chefs during her training in the US. She then taught in a pastry school here in the Philippines, then the pandemic hit and everyone’s day-to-day functions ceased. Losing her daily routine led her to start baking all sorts of goods at home, eventually sharing them to neighbors and relatives. One fateful day, she decided to make the now-famous Chère Joie French macarons. Everyone who was able to taste them found them to be amazing and definitely worth sharing.

We first tried advertising the macarons on Facebook marketplace, had a few sales, and then finally had the guts to take the plunge and make it an actual home business–gradually adding several new flavors and new products to the menu.

The concept of this online patisserie came from our desire to bring exquisite, hotel-quality desserts at a reasonable rate, which everyone can enjoy in the comfort of their homes. With our desserts, we can guarantee that we will never compromise on the quality that we serve to our beloved customers; we hope that they always feel like they are getting their money’s worth every time they order from us. With Chère Joie, there surely is no scrimping of every carefully chosen ingredient, and every dessert goes through the meticulous quality control of the chef herself.

3. What do you want people to experience with your brand/product(s)?

With our tagline “discern joy with our pastry,” we want our customers to experience the delight of eating exquisite dessert in the comfort of their homes. We know how this pandemic has affected a lot of leisure activities like freely hanging out with friends in cafés and enjoying different pastries. With the flavors brought by our macarons, we want our customers to be able to feel like they are “enjoying exquisite pastries in a café”–but right in the comfort of their homes. We believe that the aroma and flavor of our macarons can be associated with a delicious, blissful memory. We also want our customers to be able to share this experience with their loved ones despite the distance everyone is facing because of the pandemic.

4. What tips and advice can you give to entrepreneurs who are just starting out or are planning to start their own brand?

When you feel that burning passion to create or start something new, may it be a new business, a new hobby, or a new career, go for it! But always make sure you have a plan. You have to know your direction. Also be ready to face all the difficulties and challenges that come with starting and operating a business.

5. What is next for your brand?

Hopefully, we could open up a physical store where people can dine and enjoy our desserts and pastries.

6. What other additional information and details would you like to share?

  • We offer same day delivery for our Premium French Macarons
  • Dedication cards can be requested for those who would like to send our macarons to their loved ones
