1. What got you started with this brand? What was your inspiration? What is the idea/concept behind it?

My cousin and I have always loved sharing new discoveries with each other whenever we get to try a new snack or discover a new restaurant. Whenever we travel outside the country, we always try to search for a good breakfast place/cafe that serves organic, healthy, and natural products to their consumers. My cousin and I both share the love for granola, and because of this, we became very picky with the granola we buy. We were never fans of the taste of commercialized granola, so we were always on the lookout for granola that was made by hand, had a really small list of ingredients, and was made in small batches to ensure that the quality was really there. We wanted to bring something fun, delicious, and healthy to consumers who are used to something more processed and artificial.

2. What is your best-selling product?

As of now, we only have two flavors for our granola: Classic Walnut and Cacao & Almond. One of the most common feedback we’ve received from our customers is that our granola are borderline “addictive.” Our customers seem to equally love our two flavors–and they’re fond of mixing them both together. The Classic Walnut tends leans more on the sweet and delectable side while the Cacao & Almond has bitter, sweet, and earthy notes to it.

3. What do you want people to experience with your brand/product(s)?

We want our customers to have an ease of access to premium granola in the Philippines. No need to go to the grocery store or to your nearest Healthy Options store–just head to our online store and with one click of a finger, your premium granola will be ready for you. Flake Premium Granola aims to bring you delicious premium-made granola at a very reasonable price.

4. What tips and advice can you give to entrepreneurs who are just starting out or are planning to start their own brand?

Our tip to entrepreneurs who are planning to start their own brand is to just go for it and to not be too hard on yourself. It may or may not be successful, but then again, nothing in this life is really guaranteed, especially now that we live in very uncertain times.

As a start-up, always keep in mind that there will be mistakes and failures along the way. Do not let this fear of failing keep you from going for what you truly believe in. Also always remember that your business will face changes, both positive and negative, and these are what will help you identify your consumer needs. You have to learn to be creative and innovate with whatever new consumer needs arise. And don’t forget to have fun in the process!

5. What’s next for your brand?

We are planning to include bigger sizes and add new flavors for our granola. We are also thinking of adding new products to the line, such as nut spreads, but this is still a plan and there is still nothing concrete as of the moment.

6. What other additional information and details would you like to share?

Flake Premium Granola is definitely more than just your typical granola. It is a plant-based, vegan-friendly, all-natural granola with no artificial sweeteners added to it. Our granola are great for a healthy and filling breakfast or an easy on-the-go snack. They are made in very small batches and contain a very simple list of ingredients to ensure that you get only the best in every bite.
