1. What got you started with this brand? What was your inspiration? What is the idea/concept behind it?

I am an artist at heart. It has always been my dream to start up a business that could double as a creative outlet, but as is the case for most artists, I always find myself overwhelmed with ideas. The community quarantine gave me an opportunity to sift through these ideas and build a strong concept. While “Terra” refers to our main material Terracotta, it has another meaning too, which is “earthly.”

Terra Folk Mnl embodies three things: love for art, love for plants, and love for the local community. We endeavor to provide timeless pieces with just the right balance of aesthetics and functionality, using locally sourced sustainable materials.

2. What is your best-selling product?

I have a deep attachment to all of our designs but if I had to choose one, it would have to be the Freya as this is the design that started it all. The epitome of our brand aesthetic. I refer to it as “The OG.”

3. What do you want people to experience with your brand/product(s)?

Ultimately, I want our clients to feel genuinely happy with their purchases. Terra Folk pots are handmade with love and utmost care, and our versatile pieces allow them to tap into their inner creativity and mix and match our pots with their plants. You’ll see a lot of them on our feed as we often share client photos!

4. What tips and advice can you give to entrepreneurs who are just starting out or are planning to start their own brand?

It would be to solidify your brand concept, values, and mission and then COMMIT to it. Be consistent, trust your vision, and be willing to take risks from time to time.

Be proactive in protecting your brand and ideas, especially if you are in the business of art and design. When it comes to business, imitation is NOT the best form of flattery.

I also think it’s important to build a relationship with your clients. It’s more than just answering inquiries and making sales. Why should they love your brand?

5. What’s next for your brand?

As with all businesses, the dream is always to grow and expand. We are hoping to widen our reach both locally and internationally when the current situation improves.
